Bromhexine HCI

- Bromhexine is a derivate of the Adhatoda vasica plant for the treatment of various respiratory diseases.
- It has been found to enhance the secretion of various mucus components by modifying the physicochemical characteristics of mucus.
- Co-administration of antibiotics with bromhexine amplified the actions of the antibiotic.

Drug class: Antitussive
- Dextromethorphan is a sigma receptor agonists that has been associated with cough suppression.
- It is an antitussive agent for the treatment of dry cough and is devoid of analgesic or addictive property.
- It readily crosses the blood-brain-barrier activating the sigma opioid receptors in the cough center of the central nervous system, thereby suppressing the cough reflex.
Chlorpheniramine Maleate
Drug class: Antihistamines
- The FDA-approved antihistamine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate could inhibit influenza virus infection by blocking viral entry into the target cell, the early stage of virus life cycle.
- Have demonstrated efficacy against nasal congestion (caused by inflammation, increased nasal secretions) in patients with allergic rhinitis, and the magnitude of benefit is relatively modest.
Guaiphenesin
