Tamsulosin

Drug class:  Alpha blockers

• Tamsulosin is a selective blocker for the alpha1a receptor subtype. 
• The 0.2 to 0.4 mg. tamsulosin dose is effective in improving lower urinary tract symptoms and the urine flow rate.
• Tamsulosin improves lower urinary tract symptoms and flow.

• Its effectiveness was similar to that of other α-antagonists, increasing slightly at higher doses.
