COMPOSITION: Desloratadine 5mg + Montelukast 10 mg
Description
Desloratadine (Antihistamine)
- Desloratadine, is a potent, nonsedating H1-receptor antagonist with antiallergic and anti-inflammatory properties.
- Desloratadine is safe and is associated with a statistically significant reduction in nasal and nonnasal symptoms in patients with perennial allergic rhinitis.
- Was superior to placebo in controlling pruritus & total symptoms after the first dose and maintained this superiority to the end of the study.
- 5 mg daily is a safe and effective treatment for chronic idiopathic urticarial with significant benefits.
Montelukast (Leukotriene receptor antagonists)
- Montelukast, a novel medication, is an antagonist to the leukotriene receptor, a viable alternative for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
- Rapidly absorbed achieving peak plasma concentration, well tolerated, and has a safety profile similar in pediatric and adult populations.
- Has benefits equivalent to antihistamines when used as monotherapy regarding efficacy and quality of life improvement and may be equivalent to intranasal corticosteroids, at least in some patients.
COMBINATION:
- In the treatment of bronchoconstriction resulting from early asthmatic response to an inhaled allergen the combination of Desloratadine and Montelukast provides superior efficacy to either blocker administered alone.
- The combination of Desloratadine and Montelukast is effective in the treatment of chronic urticaria. This combination improves the symptoms and patient’s quality of life significantly more than desloratadine alone.
