COMPOSITION: Cefuroxime Sodium 750 mg

Cefuroxime Sodium (Cephalosporin)

• The cefuroxime sodium is a second generation cephalosporin indicated for infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms.

• Single 1.5 g intravenous bolus injection of Cefuroxime sodium provided satisfactory alveolar bone concentrations for routine antibiotic prophylaxis at the time of wisdom tooth removal.²

Pharmacokinetics of cefuroxime after intravenous injection:

Cefuroxime given by bolus intravenous injection to volunteers in doses of 500 mg and 750 mg was well tolerated and no changes in hematological or biochemical values were seen.

• Compared to other cephalosporins, it had favorable pharmacokinetics, and was concluded that the high concentrations of unbound cefuroxime in the serum is likely to aid in effective therapy of human infection caused by sensitive bacteria.
