COMPOSITION –
- Mefenamic Acid I.P. 250mg + Paracetamol I.P. 500mg + Dicyclomine HCI I.P. 10mg
Description
- Mefenamic acid (NSAID, Analgesic, and Antipyretic drug)
- Known as a prostaglandin synthesis inhibitor and is used for reducing blood loss volume. Aka anthranilic acid is a weak organic acid.
- Reduces the severity of dysmenorrhea effectively with moderate menstrual pain reduction.
- Mefenamic acid reduced blood loss in women with anovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding, fibroids, intrauterine devices, and von Willebrand disease.
Paracetamol (Analgesics and Antipyretics)
- A popular analgesic and antipyretic drug that is used for the relief of fever, headaches, and other minor aches and pains.
- With low peripheral adverse effects, possibly related to its weak activity as an inhibitor of peripheral cyclooxygenase (COX).
- Suggested as a good tool for treating brain inflammation without compromising peripheral prostaglandin synthesis.
Dicyclomine hydrochloride (Anticholinergic and Antispasmodic)
- Showed a remarkable inhibitory action against several pathogenic bacteria.
- Has a direct relaxing effect on smooth muscles.
COMBINATION & TREATMENT
- The combined dosage form is used to treat a certain type of intestinal problem called irritable bowel syndrome.
- Helps to reduce the symptoms of stomach and intestinal cramping.
- Works by slowing the natural movements of the gut and by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and intestines.
- Highly effective and used in the treatment of spasmodic dysmenorrhoea intestinal colic, biliary colic, and ureteric colic.
